Terms and Conditions

After purchase, the rat(s) become the full responsibility of their new owner. This means that once the rats leave Forest City Rats, all future care - including veterinary needs, medical expenses, housing, diet, and overall well-being - is the sole responsibility of the new owner.

Forest City Rats is not liable for any health, behavioural, or financial issues that may arise after purchase.

Forest City Rats reserves the right to refuse or cancel any order at any time, for any reason. This includes - but is not limited to - situations where we feel uncomfortable with a buyer, where communication has been unpleasant or disrespectful, or where we feel the placement may not be in the best interest of our animals.

All cancellations made by Forest City Rats will be refunded in full to the original method of payment.

Return Policy

All rat sales are final, and no refunds are offered, including if a buyer changes their mind, decides to cancel, or can no longer proceed with the purchase for any reason.

While Forest City Rats may be able to accept owner surrenders at times, this is done at our discretion and does not constitute a refund or credit toward future purchases.

Purchasing Policy

Pickup is by arranged date and time only. We will be in touch with you via email or SMS following your order completion to make pickup arrangements (be sure to check your junk/spam folders).

ID verification is required to complete checkout. This helps confirm your identity and ensure the security and validity of your purchase.

​

Purchased rat(s) must be picked up within 10 days of their purchase date. If you are not able to pick up within 10 days, a boarding fee of $5/day will apply and needs to be prepaid. We will send you a pay link for the service. 

​

If we are not able to get a hold of you within 2 days of your order being placed, it will be automatically cancelled.

​

Please bring along a RAT-SUITABLE box or carrier for pickup unless you have purchased a carrier through our website. Forest City Rats does not have extra boxes or carriers on hand.

No cages are included with the purchase of our rats. Please ensure you are set up for successful rat ownership before pickup.

We operate a CLOSED-DOOR rattery to ensure the safety and well-being of all pets and individuals in the household. Meaning, we do not allow anyone inside our home. Rats must be selected out and paid for in advance, as we do not offer meet-and-greet appointments. 

7-Day Health Committment

All rats are sold in good health to the best of our knowledge at the time they leave our care. While extensive care is taken in breeding, raising, and monitoring our animals, they are living beings and cannot be guaranteed to be entirely free of illness.

If a rat shows signs of serious illness or passes away within 7 days of going home, the following conditions apply:

• Forest City Rats will request additional details regarding symptoms, care, and the environment, and may request photos or videos to assist with the assessment.

• Forest City Rats must be notified within 24 hours of symptoms appearing or immediately in the event of a death.

• Clear communication and, when requested, veterinary confirmation may be required.

• The issue must be reasonably determined to be related to a pre-existing condition present before leaving our care.

This policy does not cover:

• Illness or death related to stress from relocation.

• Improper housing, diet, or care.

• Injuries or accidents occurring after the rat has left our care.

• Development of conditions that arise after the rat has settled into its new home.

  
  

By purchasing a rat, buyers acknowledge that they are prepared for the responsibility of veterinary care and understand that unexpected health issues can occur despite responsible breeding practices.

Digital Product Policy

e-Gift cards are valid exclusively toward the purchase of rats and cannot be used for any other purpose. Gift cards have no cash value, are non-refundable, and cannot be redeemed for cash. Gift card balances may be applied only when rats are available.
